YAIAA girls' basketball coaches release 2022 all-star teams, players of the year

YAIAA girls' basketball coaches released their divisional all-star teams and selections for players and coaches of the year for the 2021-22 season this week.

Coaches nominated their own players, but were not allowed to vote for their own players during the process.

Here are the selections by division.

Division I

Player of the Year: D’Shantae Edwards, Dallastown

Co-Coach of the Year: Jay Rexroth, Dallastown; Kevin Glover, York High

After missing the majority of her junior season with a torn ACL and meniscus, Edwards bounced back to lead Dallastown to a division title and a 21-6 record. A pass-first point guard, Edwards averaged 13 points, 3.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game while helping lead a defense that gave up just 33 points per game. She's yet to make a college decision but has received an offer from Division I Bethune-Cookman in Florida.

Rexroth guided the Wildcats to the District 3 semifinals where they lost in double overtime to Cumberland Valley. Glover led York High to a 9-12 record after the Bearcats won just six games a year ago.

Player of the Year: Anne Bair, Gettysburg

Coach of the Year: Jason Seitz, Eastern York

Bair led the Warriors to their fourth straight appearance in the District 3 Class 5A title game and their second championship win during that stretch. Bair is averaging 13.8 points, 6.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. The Warriors are currently 24-5 and playing WPIAL runner-up Chartiers Valley in the PIAA Class 5A quarterfinals 7 p.m. Wednesday at Altoona.

In his first season as head coach, Seitz guided Eastern York to a division title, a state playoff appearance and a 21-6 record.

Player of the Year: Giana Hoddinott, Delone Catholic

Co-Coach of the Year: Gerry Eckenrode, Delone Catholic; Denny Garman, Hanover

Hoddinott was named Division III Player of the Year for the third straight season. The Mount St. Mary's commit is averaging 20 points per game for a Squirettes team that is 28-1 and playing Lansdale Catholic in the Class 4A quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Garden Spot High School.

Eckenrode guided Delone to its third straight District 3 title with an experienced senior roster. Garman led Hanover to a 13-9 record after the Nighthawks went .500 last season.
