A wintry mix is heading this way. Here's what to expect before the morning commute
LANSING – A mix of sleet, snow, rain and freezing rain could make for slippery roads Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for 8 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday in Barry, Eaton, Ingham and Jackson counties. An advisory will be in effect from 10 p.m. Tuesday to noon Wednesday in Clinton, Gratiot and Montcalm counties.
A coating of ice still looks likely along a line from Ludington to GR to the Lansing/Jackson area early Wed. Ice amounts will range little to none for the South, to around 0.25" toward Reed City and Clare. Freezing rain will change to rain Wed a.m. as temps warm above 32. #wmiwx pic.twitter.com/2Vm4OkOPrC

The Lansing area is expected to get up to a tenth of an inch of ice and a half-inch of snow and sleet, according to forecasters at the weather service's Grand Rapids station. Areas to the north could see up to a quarter-inch of ice.
Most of the icy precipitation will fall between about 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. before turning to all rain, they said.
The agency said morning commuters should assess road conditions and allow extra time to get to to their destinations. Even a small amount of ice can make roads treacherous, forecasters noted.
Highs will be in the low 60s on Wednesday before falling back into the 40s for the rest of the week, they said.
