Winter holidays: These city of Corpus Christi facilities are closed; trash pickup schedule
All of Corpus Christi's non-essential offices will be closed for the remainder of the year due to Christmas and New Year's.
The city announced its winter closure schedule Thursday, with most offices closing Christmas Eve and reopening Monday, Jan. 3.
Public safety services such as police, fire and E.M.S. will not be affected. Other vital city departments such as Water, Wastewater, Solid Waste Services and the airport will operate normally.
The Gas and Public Works departments will have staff on call to respond if needed.
City Hall, public libraries and Municipal Court will be closed during the period. H-E-B locations will accept utility bill payments, or customers can pay online through the city's website.
The city's senior centers will be closed from Christmas Eve through Dec. 31. The Home Bound meal delivery program will be closed from Tuesday, Dec. 28 through Dec. 31. However, on Thursday, seniors will receive a holiday meal and a five-day supply of shelf-stable meals for the week of Dec. 27.
City staff will continue to conduct welfare checks during the closure period.
The Senior Companion Program will continue to be available and patrons can call the Senior Companion office at 361-826-3154 for more information.

City Call Center:
Closed Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27 through Thursday Dec. 30
Health-COVID-19:
Vaccinations Strike Teams will be working every day except Christmas.
COVID-19 immunizations will not be offered at City Hall from Dec. 27 through Jan. 2.
Reporting of COVID-19 daily case numbers will continue.
Solid Waste Services:
No changes in schedule for garbage and recycling collection.
There will be regular collections on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
The J.C. Elliott Collection Center and Cefe' Valenzuela Landfill will be closed on Christmas and New Year's Day. Both facilities will be open during regular hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
Animal Care Services:
Closed Christmas Eve to Sunday and New Year's Eve.
Open 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27 to Thursday, Dec. 30 with adoptions taking place between 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. To make an adoption appointment, call 361-826-4606.
Parks and Recreation:
The Lozano Golf Center and Oso Golf Course will be open Christmas Eve and New Year's Day. It will be closed Christmas.
The Al Kruse Tennis Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. It will be closed Christmas and New Year's Day.
The H-E-B Tennis Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Christmas Eve and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. New Year's Eve. It will be closed Christmas and New Year's Day.
Collier Pool will be open for lap swimming 5 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Christmas Eve and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. It will be closed Christmas and Dec. 27 through New Year's Day.
The natatorium will be open for lap swimming 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Christmas Eve, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for lap swimming Dec. 27 through Dec. 30. It will be closed Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
The Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve & Learning Center will have its walking trails and playground opened daily. The learning center will be closed Christmas Eve until Jan. 2.
The Corpus Christi Gym and Ben Garza Gym will be closed Christmas Eve through New Year's Eve.
The After Hour Kid Power Program will be closed through New Year's Eve. The Vacation Station Camps will be open Dec. 28 through Dec. 30. Recreation centers will be closed Christmas Eve to New Year's Eve.
