Wine Goblet Challenge
Potters from the Associated Artists of Southport are currently exhibiting their newest wares in the Wine Goblet Challenge at Franklin Square Gallery. The mug challenge began during COVID in 2020 as a way to encourage and challenge the artists to try something different and new. Each goblet is unique in size, shape, and design. Visitors can donate quarters to vote for their favorites. Franklin Square Gallery is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, located at 130 E. West St., downtown Southport. Calabash Summer Concert Series

Wonders of the Green Swamp: An Ecological Tour
Do you know that The Green Swamp, a 17,426-acre preserve, is home to at least 21 kinds of carnivorous plants — including extensive populations of Venus' flytrap and sundew and four species of pitcher plants — and 16 species of native orchids? Come learn more interesting facts about the Green Swamp with Deb Maurer when the Museum of Coastal Carolina presents its Sandbar Lecture Series at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 21. The Zilches, a North Carolina based group that specializes in 60s psychedelic and classic rock, will perform 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 23 at Franklin Square Park, 130 E. West St., downtown Southport. Free. Bring a blanket or chair.
Oak Island Concert Series
The Entertainers will perform beach, R&B, rock, country, Top 40 music, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, June 24 at Middleton Park Amphitheater, 4610 E. Dolphin Drive. Free.
Ocean Isle Beach Summer Concert
Also known as the Peggy Hughes Concert series, Gary Lowder & Smokin Hot performs beach music, 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 24 at Town Center Park, 11 E. Second St. Free.
Brunswick Shores Amateur Radio Club Field Day
Ham radio operators from the Brunswick Shores Amateur Radio Club, encompassing all of Brunswick County, will participate in a national amateur radio exercise beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25 to noon Sunday, June 26 at Calabash Town Park, 868 Persimmon Road, Calabash. Some hams from Brunswick County will also use radio stations set up in their homes, backyards, and other locations to operate individually or with their families. With an active Atlantic hurricane season predicted this year, Hams have a long history of serving the communities when storms or other disasters damage critical communication infrastructure, including cell towers. Ham radio functions completely independently of the internet and phone systems, a station can be set up almost anywhere in minutes. For more Information, visit n4gm.org.
