Where to find Abilene Christmas lights walking tours and displays worth the drive
Christmas lights are once again ablaze across the city of Abilene. Here's a roundup of light displays that offer plenty of photo opportunities.
Walking tours of Abilene Christmas lights
► Winter Lightfest: United Way of Abilene's Winter Lightfest, a walking tour of lighted Christmas displays, will be open from 6-10 p.m. Friday through Thursday, and on Dec. 26, at 2250 E.N. 10th St.
Adult tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the gate; tickets for ages 3-18 are $7 in advance or $10 at the gate. For tickets or information, go to unitedwayabilene.org/winterlightfest.

► Abilene Zoo: The Abilene Zoo will be getting into the holiday spirit for a full week starting Friday, with daily celebrations from 4-9 p.m. through Thursday.
Activities include a live nativity, lighted holiday displays, ice skating and visits with Santa's reindeer, as well as nightly Christmas tree lightings at 6 p.m.
General admission is $15, or free for children age 2 and younger accompanied by an adult. For tickets or information, go to abilenezoo.org.
► Everman Park: The downtown Abilene public park and its statues of Dr. Seuss characters in the 1000 block of North First Street are aglow with lights again, thanks to Matt Robinson and the elves at Christmas Décor.
► Minter Park: Holiday lights brighten the trees and water feature at the pocket park at 209 Cypress St.

Abilene Christmas light displays worth the drive
Load up the kids in the vehicle, add some holiday tunes and check out these light displays worth the drive.
► Christmas Lane: The annual Christmas Lane, featuring more than 120 outdoor displays, will be open from through Dec. 26 at Abilene State Supported Living Center, 2501 Maple St. Hours will be 6-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and from 6-9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays. Admission is free.
► Old Main Building at McMurry University: Christmas lights at the historic building are set to music. The show runs continuously 6-10 p.m. through December and can be viewed from a nearby parking lot at Salyes Boulevard and South 16th Street.
► Cypress Point Street in the Fairway Oaks subdivision
► 3600 block of Grand Avenue: A Christmas tree made of lights is topped by a Santa hat.
► 1100 block of Lexington Avenue
► 2900 block of Ross Avenue
