Week 11 Indiana college football roundup: DePauw routs Wabash for Monon Bell victory
It's Rivalry Week for small college football! The final week of the regular season for NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA football will feature several teams vying for a postseason opportunity. Arguably the biggest game of the day will be the 128th Monon Bell Classic between DePauw and Wabash. The Tigers and Little Giants will not only be playing for the Bell, they'll also be playing for the North Coast Athletic Conference title. Both teams sit atop the conference standings with 6-1 records.
Elsewhere throughout the state, The Bronze Ball game between Anderson and Manchester will kickoff at 1:30 p.m. Franklin and Hanover will kickoff the 92nd Victory Bell game at 1:30 as well. That game features the Panthers and Grizzlies fighting for third in the Heartland Conference standings.
The Heartland Conference champion will also be declared today. Rose-Hulman and Mt. St. Joseph, from Ohio, both feature 6-0 conference records heading into their clash in the final game of the season. The Fightin' Engineers will seek to hand Mt. St. Joseph it's first loss of the season en route to a conference championship.
On the Division I side of things, despite incredible play from running back Carson Steele, Ball State's MAC West chances were dashed after a crushing loss to Toledo Tuesday night, leading some to think it might be time for a new QB. Meanwhile, Butler controls their own destiny in the Pioneer Football League following a miraculous 56-yard last-second field goal last weekend against San Diego. Wins this week over Drake and next week over conference leader St. Thomas would give the Bulldogs football team a share of the PFL title.
In the NAIA, Indiana Wesleyan have locked up the MSFA title. The Wildcats face the 0-10 Madonna Crusaders at noon. Marian will lock up second in the conference regardless of the outcome of the Knights' game against Lawrence Tech.
