Watertown Lakers' hockey teams suffer SDAHA losses in the Maas Ice Arena
Isaac Johnson's overtime goal spoiled a big comeback for the Watertown Lakers' varsity boys hockey team Saturday night in the Maas Ice Arena.
Watertown (6-15 overall and 6-12 in the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association) overcame a 4-0 deficit to tie the game after three period. Johnson scored in OT to lead the Ice Cats to a 5-4 win.
Maxwell Peters had two goals and Blake Schneekloth and Eric Roberts each one for Brandon Valley, which scored two goals in each of the first two periods.
The Lakers came alive in the third period, getting two goals from Brayson Bohling and one each from Mylan Evans and Jacob Rieffenberger. Jake Bramer had two assists and Jacksyn Wirkus, Tommy Foley, Austin McBride and Wyatt Knopf each one.
Caleb Schmaltz made 19 saves for Watertown, which plays Friday at Aberdeen and Saturay at Brookings. and Treyson Boesch stopped 35 shots for Brandon Valley.
Sioux Center, Iowa 5, Watertown Laker Girls 0
Watertown's girls were also home Saturday in the Maas Ice Arena and dropped a 5-0 deficit to the Sioux City Storm. After a scoreless first period, the Storm took over with two goals in the second period and three more in the third.
Faith Van Voorst produced four goals and Geonella Ramirez one for the Storm.
Angelyn Birnell made 35 saves for Watertown (1-17 overall and 1-13 in the SDAHA.
