Watch Biltmore's Christmas tree-raising ceremony

Christmas tree lights are strung on the 35-foot Frasier fir just raised into place in the grand Banquet Hall on Nov. 3, 2021, at Biltmore Estate.

Biltmore is officially launching its holiday season with the traditional raising of a 35-foot tall, 3,000 pound Fraser fir Christmas tree.

The tree will be decorated and serve as the centerpiece of the Banquet Hall in the Biltmore House.

For the second consecutive year, the tree-raising ceremony was conducted in a closed setting with only staff present, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Christmas at Biltmore and Candlelight Christmas Evenings will open on Nov. 5 and close on Jan. 9 at the estate, One Lodge Street in Asheville.

The Van Gogh Alive multisensory digital art exhibition will premiere on Nov. 5 and run through March 5. It will be the first of three exhibitions in a year-long series.
