All-Washington County girls basketball: Smith provides the 'wild' for Wildcats

The junior led the Wildcats to a 22-4 record and a trip to the Class 2A state semifinals by tying for the county scoring lead at 20.9 points per game, along with 6.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game.

First Team

The sophomore was the Gaels' floor general, running the offense while pressuring opposing guards on defense. She averaged 12.2 points and added 2.7 assists and two steals per game.

The junior gave the Hubs a foundation with her all-around play on both ends of the court, leading to an 11-10 record. She tied for the county scoring lead at 20.9 points per game and added 9.2 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 3.3 assists and 3.3 blocks per game. She was a candidate for player of the year.

The senior, who has been a mainstay for the Blazers for four years, led the team with a 10.4 scoring average along with 8.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.

The junior led the Warriors with her tough play in the paint. She averaged 10.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

The senior was part of a corps of Wildcats who did the little things — especially on defense — to allow Smith do the yeoman's work on offense. She averaged seven points to go with 3.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game, while hitting 76.3% from the foul line.

The junior was the catalyst for a balanced Knights team that finished 15-10 — the second-best record in the county. She scored 9.7 points and added 6.2 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game
