Vote for the Journal & Courier high school athlete of the week for April 18-23

There were plenty of high school sports highlight performances from the week of April 18-23. Below are eight of the best from the week.

Jada-Marie Davis, Harrison track and field

The Raider senior won the high jump at the West Lafayette relays, clearing five feet, and also helped Harrison to a first-place finish in the 400 shuttle hurdle relay while finishing second individually in the 300-meter hurdles in 47.73 seconds.

Porter Dick, Carroll golf

The Caston Invite medalist also placed fifth individually in the Benton Central Invitational and carded a Cougar nine-hole record 36 last week.

Michael Holsclaw, Lafayette Jeff track and field

Holsclaw earned praise earlier this season in a dual meet for volunteering to help with the long jump pit while injured. Now back healthy, the Broncho senior cleared 6-foot-4 in high jump on Saturday to win the event at the West Lafayette Relays.

Hayden Kemple, Clinton Prairie track and field

Kemple won the freshman race in the 3,200 meters at the Carmel Showcase in a time of 10:11.

Jarrod Kirsch, North Montgomery baseball

The sophomore threw a complete game no-hitter in a 2-0 win over rival Southmont, striking out 15 and walking two.

Ava Mobley, Harrison softball

After early season struggles, the sophomore cranked home runs in wins over Noblesville and Logansport and went 4-for-5 with two doubles and three runs battled in. Mobley, who started the season 1-for-17, is now hitting .324 with a team-high four homers for the 10-1 Raiders.

Eli Patton, Faith Christian golf

Patton's 77 earned medalist honors and led the Eagles to a championship at the Benton Central Invitational.

Macie Shirk, Southmont softball

The Mountie senior was 8-for-12 with eight runs batted in over a pair of victories versus Frankfort and one against county rival North Montgomery. Shirk homered three times during the week and also struck out 19 in a pair of pitching victories.
