VOLLEYBALL | Brooke Fatzinger and Mia Weaver earn District Player of the Year honors

Local players and coaches swept five of the top honors across the scene in district volleyball selections after a successful fall campaign as decided by district coaches.

Smithville’s Brooke Fatzinger earned Player of the Year in Division III and Dalton’s Mia Weaver earned Player of Year in Div. IV. Wooster’s Jen Snowbarger (Div. I), Orrville’s Hillary Plybon (Div. III) and Loudonville’s Jackie Arnold (Div. IV) led a trio of area coaches named Coach of the Year in their districts.

In Div. I, Generals standouts Emmaleigh Allen and Marin Dixon were at the center of the fun most of the year and were named to the first team. Wooster’s Ravin Morgan was named to the second team and Olivia Frantz honored with an honorable mention selection.

In Div. II, Triway’s big hitters Clowie Flinner and Chloe Sherrieb were named to the first team, while Jaymes Gilbert finished on second team. Earning honorable mention picks were Triway's Kalie Campbell and Norwayne’s Andrea Maibach.

In Div. III, Smithies Ashlyn Brookover and Naomi Keib were both first-team selections joining Northwestern’s Ari Borton, Orrville’s Averi Haley, Tuslaw’s Jenna Boyd and Waynedale’s Gracelyn Mathias. Picking up second team honors were Orrville's Amari Slaughter and Ainsley Hamsher, and Waynedale's Alyssa Geiser and Allison Hale. Joining the quartet were Tuslaw's Gwen Wilhelm and Rittman's Gabbie Swartz.

Earning honorable mention: Sydney Shane (Smithville), Madison Dudich (Rittman), Josie Wright (Northwestern), Ella Gonzales (Orrville), Michaela Stevens (Tuslaw) and Kendra Keim (Waynedale).

In Div. IV, the regional-bound Bulldogs were led by Courtney Nolt and Addesa Miller, and Loudonville was led by Payton VanSickle and Goldie Layton with first-team selections. Joining them on the first team were Hillsdale’s Elizabeth Norris and Central Christian’s Emma Mast.

Central Christian's Alli Mullet and Ruthie Nuzum earned second-team honors, along with Loudonville's Katie Seboe and Ari Mitchell, Hilldale's Belle Dalton and Dalton's Amber Jager. Picking up honorable mention selections: Lacey Fickes (Hillsdale), Claire Yost (Central Christian), Sarah Cross (Dalton) and Brooke Christine (Loudonville).
