'Virgin River' Fans Won't Recognize Everyone in Season 2

Alexandra Breckenridge stars as Mel, a widowed young nurse from Los Angeles who is trying to escape her painful past. Mel moves to Virgin River hoping to quietly rebuild her life in a small town where nobody knows her—but it doesn't take long for her to realize that's impossible in Virgin River.

Longtime This Is Us fans will recognize Alexandra as Sophie. The actress has also appeared in The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, and various Hallmark and Lifetime movies.

Martin Henderson plays Jack, the charming owner of Virgin River's only bar and restaurant. Jack is a former marine who's battling PTSD and, like Mel, moved to Virgin River years prior looking for a fresh start. He tries hard not to get close to anyone—but Jack's outlook on life begins to change after Mel walks into his bar.

In real life, Martin is a New Zealand actor with credits on Grey's Anatomy, The Ring, and more.

Virgin River's beloved (and exasperating!) mayor Hope is portrayed by actress Annette O'Toole. Although she's stubborn to a fault and meddles in everyone's business, Hope has a heart of gold.

Before joining the cast of Virgin River, Annette appeared in films like It and Superman 3. She has been acting for decades and grew up working on classics including My Three Sons, Gunsmoke, and The Partridge Family.

Tim Matheson's character Doc often wears a hard, grumpy mask (especially when dealing with Mel), but deep down he loves the residents of Virgin River like family.

In recent years, Tim starred in The West Wing and Hart of Dixie. He's also well-known for his role in National Lampoon's Animal House.

"Preacher" is Jack's sweet and caring right-hand man, played by actor Colin Lawrence. As the chef at Jack's Bar, Preacher knows everything about everybody. Or, so he thinks, until he uncovers a mysterious secret about Paige (Lexa Doig).

Colin is known for his roles in Riverdale, Battlestar Galactica, and the Fixer Upper Mysteries series on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Lauren Hammersley portrays Jack's longtime love interest Charmaine. While you won't ever catch Jack calling her his "girlfriend," she has different ideas about the relationship—until they ultimately split up. At the end of season 1, Charmaine drops a bomb on Jack (through a letter that nosey Hope reads, of course) that could change his entire future with Mel.

Prior to Virgin River, Lauren appeared on Orphan Black and Mr. D.

Benjamin Hollingsworth puts his smoldering stare to good use when playing Brady, one of Jack's old Marine buddies. While we don't know much about Brady's past, we do know one thing: Trouble follows him wherever he goes.

Hallmark Christmas movie fans will recognize Benjamin for his role in A Godwink Christmas: Meant for Love.

Lexa Doig plays Paige, who runs a bakery truck in Virgin River and seemingly provides the entire town with coffee. She has a sweet son and a soft spot for Preacher, but the single mom is hiding a dark secret.

Lexa is a talented Canadian actress who most recently starred on The Arrangement.

Jack's bar-back Ricky, played by Grayson Maxwell Gurnsey, is a sweet teenager who lives with his grandmother and looks up to his boss. But his attitude change when a beautiful young newcomer rolls into town!

Although Grayson is one of the youngest actors on the show, he has plenty of experience! The 20-year-old has appeared in movies like The Art of Racing in the Rain and Garage Sale Mystery: The Beach Murder.

Mel's late husband Mark has only appeared in flashbacks, but without his character there would be no Virgin River. Portrayed by Daniel Gillies, Mark was a successful doctor fighting for his marriage with Mel when he died in a car accident.

Daniel has recently starred on The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Saving Hope.

Joey, played by Jenny Cooper, is Mel's occasionally overbearing older sister. She still lives in L.A. and is constantly worrying about Mel—but Joey has her own personal problems to face.

In real life, Jenny has appeared on Grey's Anatomy, Open Heart, and 24.

Lilly is surrounded by drama from the start of season 1, when it's revealed that the abandoned baby found on Doc's doorstep belongs to her. After accepting some help from Mel and her family, Lilly is doing much better.

Lynda has previously appeared on Those Damn Canadians, Tin Star, and When Calls the Heart.

Lizzie is a rough-around-the-edges teenager who's shipped to Virgin River by her parents after a shoplifting bust. She blows into town like a tornado and quickly captivates the attention of Ricky—which may not be a good thing.

Before joining the cast of Virgin River, Sarah appeared in the Netflix film In The Shadow Of The Moon and a series of Lifetime features like The College Admissions Scandal and The Bad Seed.

Mike served with Jack and Preacher in the Marines before joining the LAPD, where he was shot by a gang. He comes to the small town to recover and reconnect with his old friends. According to the Virgin River Instagram account, Mike is going to bring major "hotness" to the show—not sure exactly what that means, but we're here for it!

As an actor, Marco is best known for his roles on Good Sam, The Flash and Kim's Convenience.
