Vanderbilt baseball to face San Diego in Corvallis Regional in NCAA Tournament

Vanderbilt baseball will travel to Corvallis, Ore., for its regional, it was announced Monday. The Commodores will face San Diego in the opening game Friday. The regional is hosted by No. 3 seed Oregon State and also includes New Mexico State.

Vanderbilt (36-21) reaches its 16th consecutive NCAA Tournament, which is the longest active streak in the SEC. The Commodores last failed to reach a regional in 2005. Vanderbilt is not hosting for the first time since 2018 and for the ninth time in 17 tournament appearances under coach Tim Corbin. The Commodores have advanced to super regionals in nine of the last 11 tournaments, only failing to advance in 2012 and 2016, and have won four of their eight road regionals under Corbin.

It has been somewhat of a disappointing season for Vanderbilt, which finished with its first losing record in SEC play since 2009 and has lost five of its last six games. However, the postseason will give the Commodores an opportunity to rewrite the story of the 2022 season.
