Tyrell Ward, Xavier's top 2022 signee, announces he's re-opening his recruitment
Tyrell Ward has re-opened his recruitment, he announced Sunday on social media.
The 6-foot-7 forward out of DeMatha Catholic High School, who's Xavier's top-ranked commit in the 2022 class, committed to the Musketeers in July last year and signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period in November.

Ward told Joe Tipton, "Due to the recent coaching changes at Xavier University, I’ve decided to ask the university for my release from my NLI and will re-open my recruitment. 100% Xavier will still be an option. I’m grateful to Xavier for the love they’ve shown to me and my family throughout the process.”
Xavier parted ways with Travis Steele this week and just finalized a deal on Saturday to bring Sean Miller back as the Musketeers' next head coach.
Ward's the No. 36 prospect in the country, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. Ward's one of the highest-ranked recruits in the modern era for Xavier's men's basketball program.
The Musketeers have two other commits in the 2022 class: four-star shooting guard Kam Craft, who's already signed a letter of intent; and four-star point guard Desmond Claude, who's verbally committed but hasn't signed yet.
