Three York County football players selected to prestigious Big 33 Classic football game
For the second straight year, Central York High School has had multiple players selected to the Big 33 Classic.
Seniors Treyshawn Smith and Trenton Dunnick were announced as selections to the prestigious game on March 1. The game pits some of the top seniors from Pennsylvania against all-stars from Maryland.
York High center Joden Nelson was added to the team as a replacement player Thursday.
The 2022 Big 33 game will be played May 30 at 2 p.m. at Bishop McDevitt’s Rocco Ortenzio Stadium. The game was previously played at Central Dauphin’s Landis Field.
While it has been surpassed in popularity in recent years by national all-star games like the Under-Armour All-America Game and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, few games match the Big 33's history.

The game has been played since 1958 and previously pitted Pennsylvania teams against squads from Ohio and Texas. Maryland has been the opponent since 2013.
Every Super Bowl (which dates back to 1967) has featured at least one player who appeared in the Big 33 Classic. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver and Clairton High School grad Tyler Boyd was this year’s Super Bowl participant.
The game has featured the likes of Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Ben Roethlisberger, Jim Kelly and Joe Namath. York High grad and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Chris Doleman also played in the game.
Smith was named to the team as a defensive back. The 6-foot-2 senior had 31 tackles and two interceptions with one returned for a touchdown. As a wide receiver, he caught 39 passes for 764 yards and nine touchdowns. He'll be playing next season for Lackawanna College, a junior college with a reputation for producing Division I players.
Dunnick was named to the team as a tight end. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound senior caught 13 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns this season but was a tremendous force on defense. He finished with 88 tackles, five sacks, 11 tackles for a loss, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries while splitting time between defensive end and middle linebacker. He's committed to NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg.
A Towson commit, Nelson helped York High go 7-3 and paved the way for star running back Jahiem White to rush for over 2,000 yards and 30 TDs.
Star Central York quarterback Beau Pribula has already enrolled at Penn State, which explains why the top quarterback in the state was not a selection.
The YAIAA was represented by four players last year. Central York receiver Judah Tomb, Central York running back Isaiah Sturgis, Central York offensive tackle Josh Gaffney and Dallastown punter Mitchell Groh.
Seven YAIAA players selected to East/West games
Seven more York-Adams standout seniors will be participating in the Big 33's accompanying East/West games.
York Catholic kicker Nick Andrasi will play in the Class 1A to Class 3A game for the East team.
Central York seniors Carter Glassmyer (linebacker), Kyaire Fulp (defensive back), Brayden Bowers (long snapper), Quez Simmons (safety) and Kennard-Dale guard Grant Cooper will play in the Class 4A to Class 6A game for the West team.
The East/West games are also run by the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association. This is the second year there will be two games instead of one.
The East/West games will be played May 29 at Bishop McDevitt.
