Tuesday's high school scores: Diman baseball advances to Vocational state finals

FALL RIVER — The Diman baseball team meant business at the plate late on Tuesday.

The Bengals broke open a close game in the bottom of the sixth and went on to beat Bay Path, 7-4, in the semifinal of the Vocational State Baseball tournament at Diman Regional Vocational Tech High School.

Samuel Perry pitched the complete game for the win for the Bengals (1-0), scattering eight hits, walked two and struck out six batters.

Offensively, Alex Rivest, Bobby Soares and Christian Connell each went 2-for-3 at the plate. Lucas Cabral's two-run single in the sixth inning broke a 3-3 tie that saw Diman score four runs heading into the seventh.

The Bengals travel to Shawsheen Valley Regional for the Vocational state championship on Wednesday.
