The Bloody Mary Festival, which travels the country looking for the best Bloody Mary in each city, will return to Milwaukee for the fourth time on Aug. 12 at Maier Festival Park.

Attendees will have the opportunity to taste Bloody Mary mixes from the Milwaukee area and beyond and vote for the winner of the People's Choice Award for best Bloody Mary in Wisconsin.

A panel of expert judges will crown the best Bloody Mary in Wisconsin.

The festival first came to Milwaukee's Deer District in 2019. The 2020 festival was postponed, and it returned to Milwaukee in 2021 and 2022. Organizers said it moved to the Mid-Gate pavilion at Maier Festival Park, 200 N. Harbor Drive, because it has cover in case of rain (that's been an issue at the last two events).

The Bloody Mary Festival, in past years has traveled to 12 cities, only has six on its roster this year, including Milwaukee.

"The pandemic changed that for us, and for restaurants that were once participants," Event Coordinator Laura Garcia told the Journal Sentinel in an email. "In Milwaukee, people love Bloody Marys. Our tickets are normally sold out by the time of the event."

The other cities include Austin, Texas, Denver, Portland, Oregon, New York City, and the Twin Cities.

Tickets for the Bloody Mary Festival start at $49.50 for a general-admission session either at 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., or 3:45 to 6 p.m. VIP sessions are from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 3 to 6 p.m. and cost $64.95.
