Thursday's high school scores: Bridgewater-Raynham baseball wins PNHS tournament

PLYMOUTH — Another game, another shutout by Bridgewater-Raynham baseball.

The Trojans took down hosts Plymouth North 3-0 Thursday afternoon to claim the Plymouth North Baseball Tournament title and their third straight shutout as B-R improved to 6-1 on the season.

Mike Logiudice put in another solid performance on the mound to earn the win as he tossed four scoreless innings striking out three while Luke Barry finished the shutout pitching the remaining three innings while striking out four.

Cam Morrison led the way at the plate for the Trojans, going two-for-four with a pair of RBIs while James Nichols went one-for-three with an RBI.

B-R returns to action Monday when they host Dartmouth.

SOFTBALL

Plymouth North 10, Bridgewater-Raynham 9

The Trojans fell on the road in non-league action to the Eagles and are now 1-3 on the season.

B-R held a 7-2 lead at one point before Plymouth North staged a comeback effort scoring eight runs to seal the win.

The Trojans return to action Friday when they travel to King Philip.

Wednesday's high school scores: Taunton baseball stays perfect

BOYS LACROSSE

Bridgewater-Raynham 10, Dover-Sherborn 8

The Trojans defeated the Raiders in the second round of the Coaches Challenge Cup at Concord-Carlisle High School to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Christian Thornton led the way for B-R with four goals and two assists, while Ryan Breheny and James Murray had a pair of goals and assists each and Nick Rossi and Ryan McInnis each had a goal.

Goalie Zach Sinclair and the Trojan defense stepped up in the second half, only allowing a single goal to keep D-S at bay.

B-R returns to action Saturday when they'll face Winchester in the third round of the Coaches Challenge Cup.

Taunton at the Warrior Classic

The Tigers were one of 44 programs from across the state to take part in the Warrior Classic at Foxboro High School and had several notable performances.

Dmitrius Shearrion was the top boys performer for Taunton, winning the 200 meter with a time of 23.11, setting a meet record as he finished nearly a full second ahead of the runner-up. Shearrion also took fourth in the 100 meter with a time of 11.63 while teammate GJ Mualis came in sixth with a time of 11.89.

Other top ten finishers for the Tiger boys include Az-Anael St. Marc, who finished seventh in the 800 meter with a time of 2:14.89 while Sam Dennis took 10th with a time of 2:16.09. Elijah Perez had the best finish of all Taunton boys throwers, placing 12th in the javelin with a distance of 108-00.

On the girls side, the Tigers swept the top two spots in the 400 meter as Nia Mainer-Smith won with a time of 1:00.40 while Caelen O'Leary came in second with a time of 1:01.43. Emersyn DePonte came in seventh in the mile with a time of 5:38.50 while Phylicia Dias finished eighth in the 800 meter with a time of 2:38.92, Colby Dunham came in ninth in the two mile with a time of 12:53.62 and Taylor Doherty came in ninth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:19.27.

Sayla DePina had the best showing of all Taunton girls throwers as she placed eighth in the discus with a distance of 67-07.
