All-State football teams announced. See who in the Mohawk Valley made the cut

The New York State Sportswriters Association released its annual 2022 large school All-State football team, a week after it announced its small school squads.

The large school recipients come from Class AA and A schools, while the small school hail from classes B, C, D and 8-man.

In total, 18 local athletes were honored, five from the large schools and 13 from the small.

Mohawk Valley Class AA All-State Football Selections

Second Team

Todd Abraham (Proctor, senior): Abraham leads the pack with a second team selection. The Proctor QB led the Raiders to a 5-4 record and a spot in the Section III Class AA semifinals. The senior, who was selected to the All-Mohawk Valley team, finished the season with 1,626 total yards and 20 TDs. He heads to Binghamton University in the fall on a baseball scholarship.

Sixth Team

Mohawk Valley Class A All-State Football Selections

First Team

Kyle Meier (Whitesboro, junior): Meier adds yet another accolade to his resume, one which already includes a spot on the All-CNY team and the All-Mohawk Valley Football Player of the Year.

He’s one of just two Section III athletes named first team for Class A, along with West Genesee’s Vincent Firenze. The junior ran for 2,270 yards and threw for another 1,002 as the Warriors finished 7-3.

Fourth Team

Alex Collver (New Hartford, senior): He returned to the all-state team for the second straight season. Collver was second team All-State for small schools in 2021. He was also named to the AMV team for the second time behind a 1,179 rush yard and 13 touchdown season.

Mohawk Valley Class B All-State Football Selections

Third Team

Camden's Connor Dean runs the football against Oneida.

Connor Dean (Camden, senior): Dean serves as Class B’s only honoree. The Camden senior QB and DB was a force at all fronts as the Blue Devils completed their best season in more than a decade.

He ended the season with 1,744 yards and 23 total TDs. On defense, he had 12 tackles. He was also third team last season.

Mohawk Valley Class C All-State Football Selections

Second Team

Ray Hennessey (Adirondack, senior): Hennessey focused solely on running back and excelled as Adirondack completed a perfect regular season before a section semifinal loss to Holland Patent. He was Class D second team in 2021

Jordan Koenig (Holland Patent, senior): Koenig played primarily at running back, where he rushed for 894 yards and six scores. He received some time under center though, and on defense, he tallied 57 tackles and an interception. He was Class C third team in 2021.

Mohawk Valley Class D All-State Football Selections

First Team

To the victors goes the spoils for Dolgeville. The Class D section champions were awarded with two first team recipients.

Jared Bilinski (Dolgeville, senior): Bilinski claimed a spot on the first team for the second straight season. The running back raced for 1,298 yards with 11 TDs.

Kamryn Comstock (Dolgeville, senior): The tight end led the Blue Devils in receiving yards and touchdowns.

Mohawk Valley 8-man All-State Football Selections

Eight-man leads the group by far, with eight players originating from the four schools which excelled in the class this season.

Some names highlighting this list include Frankfort-Schuyler QB Martino Rocco and Morrisville-Eaton RB James Dapson. The two dueled it out in a thriller in the 8-man section final on Nov. 11, a 30-28 Warrior win.

Dapson, Shepardson, Farber and Marland were also selected to 2021’s 8-man All-State squad.
