‘Speechless’ Star Kyla Kenedy Joins NBC’s LA Mayor Comedy With Ted Danson (Exclusive)

Kyla Kenedy has been cast in NBC’s upcoming comedy starring Ted Danson as the mayor of Los Angeles, TheWrap has learned.

Kenedy, who starred on ABC’s “Speechless,” will play Orly Bremer, the headstrong teenage daughter of Danson’s character, a wealthy businessman who ends up becoming L.A.’s top pol. The comedy was given a straight-to-series order by NBC last summer and comes from “30 Rock” creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock.

The project will be produced by Universal Television, Fey’s Little Stranger, Bevel Gears and 3 Arts Entertainment. Carlock and Fey will serve as executive producers alongside Jeff Richmond and David Miner. Eric Gurian will oversee for Little Stranger.

Kenedy is best known for her role as Dylan DiMeo on “Speechless,” the youngest daughter of the DiMeo family. ABC decided to cancel that series after three seasons last year.

Along with Danson and Kenedy, the untitled comedy stars Holly Hunter and Bobby Moynihan.

Hunter will play Arpi, a longtime liberal councilwoman whose dedicated her life to the betterment of Los Angeles. She makes no secret of her disdain for the newly elected Mayor Bremer (Danson), whom she considers unqualified, sexist, and too tall to be trusted. Meanwhile Moynihan will play Jayden, the interim Director of Communications in the newly elected mayor’s office.

Kenedy is repped by Paradigm, Industry, and Stewart Brookman.
