Gaffney 26, Spartanburg 20 (OT)

In this overtime thriller, Gaffney's defense stepped up with a Nathan Johnson sack and a Jayden Sims interception on back-to-back plays to give the offense the ball to beat Spartanburg on a Grayson Loftis 10-yard TD pass to Jamarcus Smith in this instant classic.

Loftis led Gaffney (4-2, 1-0 Region 2-AAAAA) with 232 passing yards, three TDs and two interceptions, with star receiver Edward "Suga" Jefferies starring in his first game back since Week 0 with 141 all-purpose yards and three TDs.

Quarterback Raheim Jeter recorded 201 total yards for Spartanburg (4-4, 1-1) and ran for the Vikings' lone offensive touchdown.

Byrnes 30, Boiling Springs 7

After back-to-back losses, Byrnes got a much-needed win over region-foe Boiling Springs to get back on track.

Led by quarterback Colby Shaw's 167 passing yards and touchdown and running back Kemren Prysock's 176 all-purpose yards and two total touchdowns, the Rebels (6-2, 1-1 Region 2-AAAAA) took care of the Bulldogs (2-6, 0-2) handedly, despite Boiling Springs receiver Zy Landrum's big game -- 10 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown.

Dorman 13, Mauldin 12

For the first time this season Dorman failed to rush for more than 100 yards; in fact, the lowest rush total for the Cavaliers was 192 yards.

But Dorman (7-0, 1-0 Region 2-AAAAA) rushed for 85 yards against Mauldin (1-6, 0-1 Region 1-AAAAA) and scrapped by the Mavericks on a fourth-quarter 35-yard run by senior Demarius Foster.

Given Dorman's dominant form in prior weeks, let's chalk this one up to a weird non-region road game in the middle of region play and give the Cavaliers the benefit of the doubt.

Broome 49, Blue Ridge 28

Broome remained at the top of its region on the back of a huge performance from freshman running back Jaylen McGill.

McGill rushed for 251 yards and five touchdowns on 20 carries -- that's a touchdown every four carries.

Junior quarterback Kamajay Brackett-Brannon rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries -- that's a touchdown every 4.5 carries.

This backfield pair has continued to be lethal for Broome (5-3, 2-0 Region 3-AAA) this season, as they've taken what was supposed to be a transition-type season and made it a region championship-type season.
