Early vote returns in U.S. battleground states may not be a good indicator of whether Democratic candidate Kamala Harris or Republican rival Donald Trump will win, experts say, thanks to vote counting rules and quirks in several key states. In the 2020 election, some states showed a "red mirage," in which Trump was leading on election night, before a "blue shift" saw Democrat Joe Biden overtake him as mail-in ballots favored by more Democratic voters were counted. Experts had accurately predicted it would happen but Trump still used the shift to amplify his false claims that the election was stolen.

DuPont raises full-year profit forecast above estimates on strong AI-tech demand
DuPont de Nemours raised its full-year profit forecast above Street estimates on Tuesday after the industrial materials maker beat third-quarter earnings target on strong demand for electronics and artificial intelligence-based technology. New orders improved in the U.S. manufacturing sector in September, primarily driven by an AI surge and increased China demand, which helped DuPont raise its profit target for a third time. The manufacturer has also been benefiting from falling interest rates and lower material prices.

Iran sentences 3 to death over nuclear scientist killing
Iran has sentenced three people to death over the 2020 assassination of one of the country's top nuclear scientists, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the judiciary said on Tuesday."The judicial processes of these three people were carried out in the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, and they were sentenced to death in the initial stage, and the case is currently in the appeal stage," judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir told a Tehran press conference.

Singapore's Keppel to buy Japanese AI data centre amid AI boom
The deal comes less than two weeks after the asset manager said it plans to more than double its data centre funds under management from S$9 billion ($6.84 billion) currently to S$19 billion in the near term to tap into the AI frenzy. Mitsui Fudosan will develop the core and shell of the data centre, while Keppel's private fund will undertake the fit-out works, the Singaporean company said. Keppel said it would be the facility manager when the data centre is ready in 2027, adding to its recurring income.
