Sioux Falls this weekend: Halloween events in full swing, sale at W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds

There's no shortage of things to do this weekend, highlighted by fall events, including trunk or treat events and even a zombie crawl.

But that's not all. There's also a play showing at the Washington Pavilion, a bowling fundraiser for pit bulls and a "Junkin' Market" sale.

Here are five events happening this weekend throughout Sioux Falls.

Trunk or Treats

Opportunities for children to get candy a week before Halloween starts this weekend. Instead of trick-or-treating at doors, children walk from car trunk to car trunk to receive candy. At the Truks-N-Trykes event, there willl be "treats galore" and prizes for the top three car decorations.

Here's what you need to know before you go.

  • Truks-N-Trykes NurseryCare, 3 to 5 p.m., 4825 S. Hosta Ave.

  • Hope Lutheran Church, 1 to 4 p.m., 1700 S. Cliff Ave.

Both events are on Saturday.

Sioux Falls Roller Derby Zombie Crawl 2022

It'll be the second time for the event, which starts at 3 p.m. Saturday at Tophat. There will be discounts, coupons and drink specials. There will also be a scavenger hunt, raffles and prizes. Admission to the event is $10.

'The Book of Mormon'

Showings for the newest play at the Washington Pavilion will start this weekend. The play "The Book of Mormon" follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries sent halfway across the globe to spread "The Good Word."

  • Friday, 7:30 p.m.

  • Saturday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

  • Sunday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

All shows will be at the Washington Pavilion inside Mary W. Sommervold Hall. Tickets range from $32 to $121 and can be purchased on the Washington Pavilion's website.

Junkin' Market Days

The Expo Building at the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds will host the Junkin' Market Days this weekend.

Junkin' Market Days is an indoor event that features local small business owners from surrounding states. Items include boutique clothes, jewelry, home decor, furniture, candles, gourmet foods and more. There will be roughly 100 small business owners selling at the event.

The event started in 2021 and has expanded into North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa.

Tickets for the event are $5 and can be purchased online or at the door. Hours for the Junkin' Market Days are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Pins for Pits

The Sioux Empire Pit Rescue focuses on pit bull ownership and provides breed education. Now, the organization is hosting a Pins for Pits fundraising event Saturday at Sioux Falls Sport Bowl.

It's a family-friendly event with teams of four players, prizes for the Top-3 teams, beer bucket specials, beanies, calendars and meet-and-greets with dogs. Tickets range from $25 to $100 and can be purchased here. There will be food and shoe rental included with registration.

Session One

  • Check-in: 2 to 2:30 p.m.

  • Bowling: 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

  • Prizes: 3:30 to 4 p.m.

Session Two

  • Check-in: 4 to 4:30 p.m.

  • Bowling: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

  • Prizes: 5:30 to 6 p.m.
