ShopRite to open March 26 at site of former Greenburgh movie theater
ShopRite of Elmsford-Greenburgh, located at the site of the now defunct Greenburgh Multiplex theater, opens March 26 at 320 Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford.
For those who miss the movie theater, you can still get popcorn, albeit in an aisle jammed packed with other snacks. The new 74,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art and full-service supermarket has pretty much anything and everything, including: a meat department with trained butchers; a from-scratch bake shop offering store-made bread, cakes and pastries; a seafood department with fresh deliveries daily; a produce department with a large selection of organic and locally grown fruits and vegetables; and a floral department.

Shoppers will also find an abundance of ready-to-cook items, heat-and-serve items and ready-to-eat meals as well as a café area and a smoothie and juice shop.
With technology more important than ever, the store incorporates digital components such as ShopRite Express to pre-order meals online. Its modern design also features digital platforms, circulars and self-checkout.
In keeping with the times, the new location boasts energy-efficient refrigeration and lighting, including glass doors on all dairy and freezer cases and LED lighting throughout the store and its parking lot.
A Taco Bell and Kentucky Fried Chicken have already opened on the long winding driveway leading to the supermarket.
There are, however, causes for concern regarding noise levels and quality of life in the neighborhood, which Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner plans on addressing Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the site. He said a site visit was promised to local residents before the supermarket gets its certificate of occupancy.
