Roundup: Granville girls lacrosse wins ninth consecutive match to advance
Clare Hotchkiss totaled two goals and an assist Thursday, fueling the Granville girls lacrosse team's balanced attack in an 11-8 victory against visiting No. 9 Olentangy Berlin in a Division II first-round match.
Amelia Sarap, Olivia Graves and Bella Rockwell added two goals each and Kyra Studer, Zoe Gravitt and Gabby Graves one each for the No. 7 Blue Aces (12-7), who visit No. 6 Bexley at noon Saturday. Grace Lilly made four saves.
BASEBALL
Granville cruises
Will Munhall hit a grand slam and finished with five RBI for No. 1 Granville in a 26-1 victory against visiting No. 18 Centennial.
Nolan Tracy added two hits, three runs scored and four RBI, Ezra Kurek two hits, four runs scored and three RBI and Dylan Kale two hits, two runs scored and two RBI for the Blue Aces (18-6), who host No. 3 Bloom-Carroll at 5 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal. Alex Gregory struck out seven and allowed one unearned run in a five-inning no-hitter.
Utica falls on road
Gavin Tussey totaled two hits and two runs scored for Utica in a 12-5 loss at No. 2 Buckeye Valley in a Division II second-round game.
Chase Bennett added two hits and a run scored for No. 13 Utica (14-15) and Hayden Piper and Connor Whisner a hit and an RBI apiece. Whisner also retired all four hitters he faced in relief.
Northridge falters late
Northridge trailed No. 2 Fredericktown just 2-0 after four innings before the host Freddies erupted in a 10-0 victory in a Division III second-round game.
Layne Mercer had two hits for the No. 17 Vikings (1-19), and Ty Bartlett and Quentin Felhofer added one apiece. Andrew Shay struck out two.
Heath blanked
Hayden Woodward had two of Heath's three hits in a 12-0 loss at No. 7 Bishop Hartley in a Division II second-round game.
Kaden Green also had a hit for the No. 12 Bulldogs (10-13-1).
Lakewood loses to Highland
Lakewood was held without a hit in a 13-0 loss at No. 6 Highland in a Division II second-round game.
Cayden King drew a walk for the No. 14 Lancers (9-15), and Noah Blade struck out two in three innings.

Watkins duo competes
Watkins Memorial's Josh Hare and Liam Grennan dropped their first-round match to a Dublin Jerome duo, 6-1, 6-0, during the Division III district tournament at Olentangy.
