Another unseasonably warm day and some windy conditions are again expected in the Rochester region this week.

Days after breaking a record high — when the temperature reached 64 degrees on Saturday at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport — the National Weather Service in Buffalo predicts the daily high to reach the mid-60s again on Thursday.

On Saturday, Rochester set a new daily record high, breaking the old high temperature of 62 degrees set in 2015, according to the Weather Service. Thursday's predicted high could also break a far older daily record of 62 degrees, set in 1894, said Weather Service Meteorologist David Thomas.

Thomas, however, warned that "while Thursday will be warm, it will also be windy." Gusts up to 40 mph are predicted, which is far less windy than the 60 mph gusts recorded Saturday at the airport that caused widespread power outages across the region, forecasters said. The high winds are expected to arrive in Rochester Thursday afternoon.

Elsewhere in the Rochester region, gusts up to 50 mph are predicted Thursday, along with sustained winds between 20 and 30 mph, according to the Weather Service.

Forecasters issued a wind advisory between 9 a.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday for several western New York counties, including Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties.

Temperatures this week are running well above average, Thomas said. The normal high for mid-December in Rochester is 39 degrees.

Monday's high reached 51 and Tuesday's high settled at 45. Wednesday is predicted to rise to 50 degrees before surging into the upper 60s on Thursday. A cold front predicted to arrive Thursday night should bring rain showers along with continuing gusts up to 35 mph, Thomas said. Friday will be cooler with a predicted high in the mid-40s.

Snow or rain is expected on Saturday, as temperatures settle back into the 30s, according to the Weather Service.
