Review: Tibbits Summer Theatre opens with 'I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change'
“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” opened the 2022 Tibbits Summer Theatre this week.
Four seasoned actors — Stephanie Burdick, Matthew C. Scott, Katelyn Crall and Chad Tallon — take the stage with a mixture of story and song as they offer laugh-out-loud woes of finding someone special, ranging from first dates to the end of life.
They slip in and out of a variety of characters as effortlessly as they sing.
Although there isn’t a lot of “happily ever after” the audience seems to relate to the scenarios on stage.
As audience members left Tibbits following Thursday's matinee, some were still laughing.
Karen Crosby came with her friend Kathy Cary of Coldwater.
“It was fantastic,” Crosby said. “I had so much fun — just delightful. I was telling my friend, ’It is so much fun to take an afternoon and just laugh.’ And the artists are very good. Their voices are beautiful.”
Kay Riegel is a Tibbits volunteer and admits she’s partial.
“I love the theater and I love this building,” Riegel said. “They work so hard and they do such a good job.”
Dennis and Joan Luke of Union City have attended several shows in the past, but bought season tickets this year. Both said they throughly enjoyed the show.
Dennis added, “I think their voices synchronize well.”
“It makes you feel good about being married 46 years,” Joan said.
“And I don’t have to make her perfect,” Dennis said. “She already is.”
Remaining shows are 2 p.m. Sunday; 2 p.m. June 22; and 7:30 p.m. June 23-25. Tickets are available at www.tibbits.org or by calling the box office, 517-278-6029.
Content is not appropriate for all ages.
Coldwater Board of Public Utilities is a major sponsor of the show.
