HOLLAND — Visitors to downtown Holland now have a new retail option following the opening of Estella Rose Fashion this week.

The specialty boutique, which offers unique newborn and women’s fashion items along with extended sizing, opened Monday, May 15 at 54 E. Eighth St. — in the former home of Crust 54.

Crust 54 began planning its move from the space in May 2019, when owner Matt Klaus purchased the building at 45 E. Eighth St. from Lumir LLC. The restaurant officially reopened in its new location in June 2020, leaving the former space vacant.

The store is run by local business owner Tricia Alcamo, her daughter Annalisa Walt, and Alcamo’s future daughter-in-law Kailie Werra and was named after Walt’s first child, Estella Rose.

So far, Alcamo said the reception has been great, even better than expected.

“It has been a year to get this opened but it was so worth the wait,” Alcamo said. “We are so excited to be down here. It has been amazing. It has just been the first week but it has been so great. We love it down here.”

So far, the store has exceeded expectations and Alcamo said they are already working on getting more items in to keep the store stocked for customers visiting the store and are also expanding their offerings to meet customer needs.

While the retail business is relatively new for Alcamo, she is no stranger to the business world and owns another Ottawa County business — Peppino’s Pizza — with her husband and son.

While the new store now operates in downtown Holland, Estella Rose was first located in Cascade but closed in July. That provided the trio a chance to get started despite always wanting a location in a more beach-y town.

“We had to literally pinch ourselves because we couldn’t believe it was really happening,” Alcamo said. “It was out of the blue that we called the city of Holland and we figured we’d try but we never imagined that we would have the opportunity to be in downtown Holland.”

News that the boutique was coming to Holland was first announced in July 2022. At the time, they were waiting for the space to be renovated. When the trio were given the green light during Tulip Time, they jumped on the opportunity.

“The building came available to move in the week of Tulip Time so that was stressful trying to get down here that week,” Alcamo said. “We ended up coming in at like 10:30 p.m. after the crowds died down. It was an interesting week.”

Moving forward, the downtown boutique is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and then Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. They are closed Sunday for now.
