Principal of Kimmons Middle School and Assistant Principal of Southside High appointed

Dr. Shawn Hinkle has been appointed as the principal of Kimmons Middle School. He has served at Fort Smith Public Schools for 22 years, and is a graduate of Sutton, Kimmons and Northside High School.

Prior to this new position, Dr. Hinkle served as assistant principal of Darby Middle School since 2016. Now, he will be the instructional leader of Kimmons, guiding the educational experience for Kimmons students and overseeing daily operations.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the students and staff of Kimmons Middle School as their next principal," he said. "Thank you to the Darby Ranger family for allowing me to grow, learn and lead as an administrator."

Matt Coleman has also been appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Southside High School. Coleman currently serves as middle school principal at Ozark Public Schools.

Previously, he served Ozark Public Schools as high school dean of students, AP U.S. history teacher, head baseball coach, assistant football coach and American and world history teacher. Prior to Ozark, Coleman served as a graduate assistant at Rogers Public School and Fayetteville Public Schools.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to work with the students, faculty and staff at Southside High School,” said Coleman said.
