Prince Charles Wishes Prince Louis Happy Birthday With a Precious New Photo

From Good Housekeeping

Earlier this month, when Prince Charles virtually opened a new, temporary hospital tasked with caring for COVID-19 patients, he shared a peek inside his workspace at Birkhall, his Scottish home on the Balmoral estate. That behind-the-scenes photo previewed a new portrait of Prince Louis, though we didn't know it at the time.

In the picture below, above Prince Charles's left shoulder sits a photo of the Prince of Wales hugging a young child, but it was unclear exactly who the toddler was.

Today, Prince Charles released that same image along with a birthday message for his third grandchild Prince Louis, who turns two today.

"A very Happy Birthday to Prince Louis, who turns two today. The young Prince enjoys a hug from his Grandfather, The Prince of Wales," the note reads.

The sweet photo of grandfatherly love was taken by the Duchess of Cambridge at what appears to be an informal family gathering, given Prince Charles's short-sleeved shirt.

Kate, who is a skilled amateur photographer, is often credited with taking the portraits of her children that are released on birthdays, the first day of school, and other special occasions.

For Louis's second birthday, for example, Kensington Palace also shared a series of photographs taken earlier this month at Anmer Hall where the Cambridges are presumed to be social distancing during the coronavirus crisis. The candid snaps show Louis with a big smile, fingers covered in paint from a Pinterest-y art project.
