Ole Miss football picks up Jackson State graduate transfer Shane Hooks

Jackson State wide receiver Shane Hooks entered the transfer portal right after the 2022 football season ended. On Thursday, Hooks told The Clarion-Ledger he will play at Ole Miss in 2023 as a graduate transfer.

"I just felt like it was the best for me," Hooks told The Clarion Ledger. "I made the decision just now, just today."

On his Twitter page, Hooks said, "Hollywood to the SIP!!! Following my own path... committed."

Hooks was Jackson State's leading receiver, leading the team in catches (66), and yards with 775 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games.

At 6-foot-4, Hooks was able to go one-on-one at the goal line and catch a lot of back shoulder throws, and 50-50 balls. Hooks said while in the transfer portal, he received offers from Cincinnati, Old Dominion, Western Michigan, UNLV and Ole Miss.

Hooks said his best game at JSU was the Southwestern Athletic Championship game against Southern. In that game, he caught five passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

"That was my favorite game because I was able to help us win a championship," Hooks said.

Hooks helped Jackson State to an historic 12-1 season and a berth in the Cricket Celebration Bowl.
