Old National Bank shooting: What we know about Louisville gunman Connor Sturgeon
Connor Sturgeon shot and killed five people and injured eight others at Old National Bank in downtown Louisville on Monday morning, according to Louisville Metro Police.
He was armed with an AR-15 rifle and was killed by police during the shooting.
Here is what we know about the shooter.
Was the Louisville gunman a current employee of Old National Bank?
The shooter, 25, was a current bank employee, Louisville Metro Police Interim Chief Jackie Gwinn-Villaroel confirmed in a press conference Tuesday.
He had worked at the bank full time since June 2021, according to his LinkedIn account, most recently as a syndications associate and portfolio banker. He also worked there for three summers as an intern.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg told reporters Tuesday he was not aware of the shooter being given any notice of potentially being fired ahead of Monday.
Sturgeon grew up in Southern Indiana and graduated from Floyd Central High School. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Alabama, a UA spokesperson confirmed. He had a residence in the Camp Taylor neighborhood in southern Louisville.

His father, Todd Sturgeon, was head basketball coach at the high school, and Connor Sturgeon was on the team.
The elder Sturgeon resigned from Floyd Central in 2022 saying he wanted to spend more time with Connor and a younger son.
Did the Louisville shooter livestream the shooting?
Yes, Sturgeon livestreamed the shooting on Instagram Live, law enforcement said.
His Instagram account was taken down at some point following the shooting Monday morning.
Did police search Connor Sturgeon's Louisville home?
Yes. A SWAT team entered the house in Camp Taylor on Monday afternoon and carried out bags of evidence. Police also canvassed the neighborhood seeking doorbell camera footage. Law enforcement have shared little thus far about what they found.
Where did Connor Sturgeon get his AR-15?
Sturgeon legally purchased the weapon on April 4 at a Louisville dealer, Louisville Metro Police Interim Chief Jackie Gwinn-Villaroel said in a press conference Tuesday.
Was Connor Sturgeon involved with JCPS?
Jennifer Helgeson, the president of Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana confirmed he was a member of the nonprofit's young professional board, which is a voluntary position. Through this program, he was at Hite Elementary School two times, "to our knowledge," Mark Hebert, a Jefferson County Public Schools spokesperson, told The Courier Journal.
