Ochai Agbaji to miss Kansas' game at Iowa State due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols

LAWRENCE — Ochai Agbaji will miss Kansas men's basketball's game Tuesday at Iowa State due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols, a Kansas spokesperson said.

The contest is still listed as having a 6 p.m. tip-off on both the Jayhawks' and Cyclones' online schedules.

"Ochai Agbaji did not travel with the team to Ames due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols," the Kansas statement read, "and will miss tonight’s game."

Agbaji has been the Jayhawks' leading scorer through 20 games, and the senior guard has started all 20 of his appearances. He's one of three Kansas players, alongside junior guard Christian Braun and redshirt sophomore guard Dajuan Harris Jr., to start each game this season. Agbaji, a national player of the year candidate, is averaging 20.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Agbaji scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds the last time Kansas and Iowa State faced off on Jan. 11. The Jayhawks won that game 62-61, thanks in part to a late bucket by Harris. In Agbaji's absence, Braun figures to take on an added level of responsibility should he be available.
