The Times-Union recognizes top performers across Jacksonville and North Florida for Week 1 in the 2022 FHSAA high school football season.
RB Danny Approbato
So., Creekside
In his first varsity game at running back, he carried 20 times for 172 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Knights to a 49-0 blowout of Viera.
DB Octavius Barnes
So., Baldwin
Barnes intercepted three passes, returning one for a touchdown, in the season-opening 34-14 win over Wolfson.
WR Naeem Burroughs
Fr., Bolles
Made his high school debut with six catches for 178 yards, with a 77-yard touchdown reception that started the scoring in a 34-13 victory at St. Augustine.
LB Jackson Copeland
Jr., Mandarin
Led a fierce pass rush with three sacks, including the game-ending sack, in the Mustangs' 27-20 win over Fletcher.
RB Zaire Davis
Sr., Harvest Community
Rushed for 125 yards and all three touchdowns on offense, and added six tackles and a pass breakup on defense.
WR Zack Drawdy
Sr., Yulee
The UConn-committed wideout gained 202 receiving yards on 13 catches in the Hornets' 21-7 loss to Charlton County.
WR Terrance Holland
Sr., Jackson
Caught 11 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown, along with 35 yards on returns, in the Tigers' 30-10 win against Nease.
QB Jamarrie McKinnon
Sr., Palatka
The quarterback completed 10 of 15 passes for 209 yards and four touchdowns, three of them to Ty'ran Bush, as the Panthers beat Umatilla 49-0.
RBs Darnell Rogers and Treyaun Webb
Trinity Christian
Rogers, a junior, and Webb, a senior, combined for 381 yards and six rushing touchdowns in Trinity's 48-40 win over White.
WR Kevon Roulhac
Jr., Englewood
Caught four passes for 135 yards and a touchdown in a 35-6 win over Paxon.
DL De'Avary Weeks
Sr., Riverside
He forced three fumbles, recovering one, along with six tackles and a sack as the Generals topped Westside 12-6.
LB JaMari Whitehead
Sr., Raines
The senior recorded 10 tackles, two and a half for loss, and a pair of sacks in the 19-13 win over Monsignor Pace.
