Northeast Florida boys soccer district wrap: Oakleaf, Bolles, Stanton among champions

The attacking trio of Akindele May-Parker, Khiende May-Parker and center forward Drew Ammon each found the net Wednesday night, firing host Oakleaf past Bartram Trail 3-0 for the Florida High School Athletic Association District 1-7A boys soccer championship.

Payton Gbelayan earned the shutout in the net for Oakleaf (15-1), whose only loss came to Fleming Island.

Both Oakleaf and Bartram Trail endured draining rides to the final: Oakleaf needed penalty kicks to overcome Creekside, while Bartram Trail (7-5-4) needed a Joseph Gilyana goal in overtime to upset No. 1 seed Mandarin.

Among the district's non-qualifiers, as elsewhere in the state, the FHSAA will use its ranking system to designate four at-large qualifiers per class per region.

This week will go down as one to remember for Sean Breuer.

One day, a college signee. The next, a district champion.

The senior fullback, one day after signing with Bryant University, set up the opening goal for Ashton Ashchi after only two minutes to start Bolles on the way to a 3-1 victory over Wolfson at Skinner-Barco Stadium.

Wolfson (7-13) equalized briefly on Lian Bawi's breakaway goal in the 20th minute, before center forward Jack Leake raced on to Jacob Christy's long ball and restored the Bolles edge three minutes later. Gabe Coleman added an insurance score after halftime, putting away a rebound off Leake's shot.

The Bulldogs (12-2), who have limited opponents to seven goals on the season, will open the regionals at home on Wednesday.
