It is the final week of the high school football regular season.
That's right. For some area teams, this week marks the last game until next year while for others, Friday's Week 11 games are a chance to secure playoff spots or conference championships.
Richlands hosts Dixon, White Oak hosts Swansboro and Croatan visits West Carteret in games that will decide the Coastal 3-A Conference title. Jacksonville hosts Northside in a city rivalry game and to secure a playoff spot and East Duplin can wrap up the outright East Central 2-A Conference title with a victory over Southwest.
While all these games have considerable favorites, one thing we have learned this season is that the teams with their backs against the wall come out motivated. Teams like Dixon, Swansboro, Croatan, Northside and Southwest would love to conclude the regular season playing the role of spoiler.
