No. 1 seed Cape Henlopen shooting for 13th straight title in DIAA Girls Lacrosse
With 12 consecutive titles and a 162-game winning streak against Delaware opponents, it is no surprise that Cape Henlopen is the No. 1 seed for the DIAA Girls Lacrosse Tournament, which begins Tuesday.
But the Vikings (14-1), whose only loss came 16-13 against Broadneck (Maryland) on April 23, could have a major challenger this time.
No. 2 seed Sussex Academy (14-1), coached by former Cape star Taylor Gooch, stayed within 15-11 of the Vikings during a regular-season game on April 6.
No. 3 Tatnall and No. 4 Tower Hill also earned first-round byes in the 12-team field.
The first round will be played Tuesday and Wednesday, on the home fields of the higher-seeded teams.
The quarterfinals will follow on Saturday, on the home fields of the four highest seeds.
The semifinals will be played on Tuesday, May 24, at Delaware State University, with times to be determined. The championship game will follow on Thursday, May 26, at DSU, at a time to be announced.
