Missouri State's All-American cornerback is headed to the Super Bowl champions.

Montrae Braswell, one of the names that will forever be remembered in the resurgence of the Bears football program, told the News-Leader that he will sign with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent — joining teammate wide receiver Ty Scott.

Braswell, like Scott, transferred from Central Michigan to Missouri State under former head coach Bobby Petrino. Braswell was arguably the best player on two teams that qualified for the FCS Playoffs.

In his debut season with Missouri State, Braswell was an All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection in addition to being a sophomore All-American. He played in all seven spring games for the Bears and made 32 tackles and tied for the league lead with three interceptions.

Braswell followed in 2021 by earning All-MVFC first-team honors as a defensive back and as a return specialist. He was a consensus All-American after finishing the season with 44 tackles, 33 solos, 2.5 sacks and four interceptions with 13 pass break-ups and a 29.5 kickoff return average.

In his final season with the Bears, Braswell continued to play at a high level by being named as a second-team All-American by Stats Perform. He was No. 2 nationally in kickoff return average with 30.3 yards per return. Teams began kicking the ball away from him during the year and was named an All-MVFC defensive back and return specialist for the second year in a row.

Prior to MSU, Braswell played in 14 games and made six starts at corner for Central Michigan under Jim McElwain. He made 34 tackles with 24 solo stops and 10 pass breakups as a redshirt freshman. He played high school ball at Avon Park High in Florida.
