NBA GMs believe Nets will win title, Durant will win MVP
The Brooklyn Nets are a trendy pick to win the 2022 NBA championship — not just among fans, but also among the league’s decision-makers.
NBA.com compiled a survey of the league’s general managers, and 72% of respondents predicted the Nets will win the league title this season. That is a wide margin above the second-most popular choice, the Los Angeles Lakers, who received 17% of votes. The Milwaukee Bucks, winners of the 2021 NBA championship, received 10% of the votes.
With a star-studded starting lineup and versatility across on the bench, it’s clear that a wide range of observers believe that the championship is the Nets’ to lose.
The survey also predicts that Kevin Durant will win his second MVP honor this season. He previously was named MVP in the 2013-14 season. Durant received 37% of votes in the GM survey, outpacing Luka Doncic (33%) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (13%).
Meantime, Durant and James Harden were voted best at their position by the league GMs.
Durant received 67% of the votes for the best small forward. LeBron James was second at 17%.
Harden received 63% of the votes for the best shooting guard. Devin Booker was second at 17%.
