Monday's Top Prep Performers: Grace Brethren, Santa Paula clinch league titles

Highlights from Monday in high school sports:

BASEBALL

  • Owen Zahn had a walk-off hit in the eighth inning as Grace Brethren defeated St. Bonaventure 3-2 to clinch the Tri-Valley League championship. Hunter Watkins allowed two hits and four walks while striking out six in five innings, Carter Johnson allowed four hits and two runs while striking out five in three innings, Zach Mora had a double and an RBI, Mason Goulart was 2 for 3, Grant Goulart went 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Conner Hilbert finished 1 for 3 with a stolen base for the Lancers (13-9, 7-0).

  • Jaden Onaca pitched a five-hit shutout with three strikeouts, Joseph Steventon had a double and an RBI, and Patrick Chute had a hit to lead Oaks Christian (15-10, 8-5) to a 1-0 victory over Westlake in a Marmonte League game. Andrew Habermann allowed just two hits and a run while striking out five in a complete-game effort and Gabe Pancratz was 2 for 3 for the Warriors (11-13, 3-10).

  • Jake Price went 4 for 5 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs, Max Price had a homer and two RBIs, Noah Thompson was 4 for 5 with three RBIs, Myles Kallinger and Braden Feliciano each went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Cooper Bowen had a hit and two RBIs, and Joey Blank had a hit and an RBI to lead Agoura (14-2, 7-6) to a 15-8 win over Calabasas in a Marmonte League game. Sam Grunberg was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Matthew Witkow had a double and two RBIs, Jordan Jaffe went 2 for 4 with a double, Tyler Shulman was 2 for 4, and Desi Gonzalez and Jacob Triessl each had a hit and an RBI for the Coyotes (19-7, 9-4).

  • Dylan Jackson finished 3 for 3 with a double and a two-run homer, Peyton Miller allowed two runs on six hits in five innings to earn his fifth win this season on the mound, Cade Barry earned the save, Caden Stillwell went 3 for 3, and Vinny Neilson was 2 for 3 to lead Thousand Oaks (14-10, 7-6) to a 4-3 win over Newbury Park in a Marmonte League game. Quinn Haggarty was 2 for 3 and Drew Turley, Jake Trickle and Derek Turner each had a hit and an RBI for the Panthers (16-10, 5-8).

SOFTBALL

  • Liliana Arana pitched a five shutout innings with 11 strikeouts and was 2 for 3 with a double at the plate, KaiLea Reyes struck out five in two shutout innings and had a double and an RBI, Mia Cardenas finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs, Julyssa Tobias had a hit and two RBIs, and Madison Gray added a hit as Santa Paula (14-9-1, 8-0) defeated Nordhoff 6-0 to clinch the Citrus Coast League title.
