Summer is the best at the Boys & Girls Club. The sun is shining, we have field trips planned and get to see kids all day long!

To bring a little extra fun, every summer we come up with a theme for how we will design our activities. This year's theme is careers.

In recent months, our organization has focused on workforce development and offering unique opportunities for our youth to experience and learn about the different career fields.

Each week this summer will have its own specific career field and members will get to learn what it means to be someone who works as a nurse, a construction worker, a teacher and even a professional athlete. Through play and interactive hands-on activities, we will strive to build intrigue into the world of work.

Lots of kids today will say they want to be a police officer, a firefighter or a teacher when they grow up. They are all amazing careers and we can never have enough. But we also want to be able to spark interest in new ways into careers many of us just dream about. Through the use of gaming and technology, we can simulate what it would be like to be an astronaut on the international Space Station. Through virtual reality headsets, kids can learn how to fix cars and what it takes to be a mechanic.

We are looking forward to providing the youth in our community a little fun and a little knowledge so that they are better prepared to become our community’s future workforce.

You can sign up for the Boys & Girls Club Main Site at bgcofwatertown.com. Our annual membership is just $25.
