A Marion County Sheriff’s Office sergeant has died from COVID-19-related complications, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Jared Miler, 41, died Thursday.

In his time with Marion County, Miller worked as a corrections deputy, field training officer, survival skills instructor and SWAT team negotiator.

He was a supervisor in the Marion County Jail when he died and had earned the position of sergeant in 2019.

He lived in Stayton and studied at Western Oregon University, according to his Facebook page.

Miller is survived by his wife, Jolene.

The Sheriff’s Office said a memorial service for Miller will be announced later.
