Some in Georgia football's fanbase are pleading for other Bulldog fans attending Monday night's national championship to bring a piece of mail to hold up at the start of the fourth quarter as a nod to quarterback Stetson Bennett.

Bennett has adopted the mailman moniker because of the cap he wore to football camps when he was younger.

"I saw it on Facebook but didn't know about it until we got here," said UGA fan Ashley Pyke, who is attending the game with son Kyler as part of Team IMPACT, a multiyear program that signs children facing serious illnesses and disabilities onto college athletic teams across the country. "I thought it would be cool if we could make a poster board that could look like a piece of mail."

The idea was mentioned on an episode of SEC Network's Paul Finebaum show. A caller mentioned that it would be a nice tribute if Georgia fans in attendance brought a piece of old mail and wave it prior to the fourth quarter.

Someone on social media posted in a UGA fan group what the Finebaum caller had said. Some replied with approval, others with criticism.

"That is silly. I can see a bunch of GEORGIA FANS waving mail back and forth in the 4th qtr. Lord Help! Corny," one responder commented.

Another replied they "Wish I could be there to see this. Such a cool tribute."

The Georgia Redcoat Marching Band plays Krypton Fanfare to begin the fourth quarter and UGA fans raise four fingers in the air. Recently, lighting up a stadium with cellphone flashlights has become tradition for Bulldog faithful.

On Monday, waving mail while lighting up Sofi Stadium could happen.

Longtime UGA fan and Athens resident Alan Cason plans to find some mail in California before the game to wave in the air.

Bennett led Georgia to its first national title in 40 years last season and has the 14-0 Bulldogs on the verge of back-to-back titles. A 3-star walk-on from Blackshear, his remarkable story has been well documented.
