LSU women's basketball to play in Goombay Splash Tournament in Bahamas over Thanksgiving

LSU's nonconference schedule for Kim Mulkey's second season continues to come together.

The team announced Tuesday that it will play in the Goombay Splash Tournament in Bimini, Bahamas over Thanksgiving week (Nov. 24-25) this season. UAB and George Mason will be the other participants.

LSU will take on George Mason Nov. 24. And the second game against UAB will either be the same day or Nov. 25, depending on the result of the first game, according to the school's announcement.

Tipoff times and the sites of the games has not yet been determined.

As it stands, the Tigers have eight nonconference games on the 2022-23 slate and has room to add as much as five more.

LSU has agreed to host Western Carolina, Houston Baptist, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana and Lamar during the nonconference portion of the schedule. LSU will also have an away game at Tulane.

It's likely LSU fills much of the remaining out-of-conference dates with higher profile Power Five teams as its nonconference slate isn't particularly deep right now. The Tigers will face a Big 12 team as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge -- those matchups and dates have not been announced by the leagues yet.

Last year, the Tigers also had games against Clemson and Texas Tech in an invitational tournament right before Christmas, so it's likely they'll want to add another at least, two-game tournament to the 2022-23 schedule.
