We've said it before and we'll say it again: Love Is Blind is one of the weirdest reality series around – and we thought that before we found out about the show's unusual casting process.

Cementing the show's status as a wild event from start to finish, one Love Is Blind contestant (and alter-jilter) has now revealed how they made it onto the Netflix series.

While appearing on Ellen with some of his other Love Is Blind co-stars, Damian Powers revealed that he was first approached by the show's producers after matching with one of them on the dating app Tinder.

While his ex-fiancé – but now-girlfriend – Giannina Gibelli thanked the "universe" for taking her to the Love Is Blind isolation pods, Damian revealed that his involvement was down to a "catfish".

"I'm probably one of the most interesting cases because they actually found me on Tinder," Damian declared. "I started chatting with this girl, [we] hit it off. She was like, 'Add me on Instagram'."

Admitting that the two actually had "a pretty good connection", Damian then revealed the twist: "[She told me], 'I'm a casting producer', and now I'm here."

Despite the unconventional origin story, Damian has since found his happy ending with Giannina, with the pair confirming they were back on in the series' special reunion episode.

Even though Damian blind-sided Gigi with an 'I don't' on their wedding day, the couple have given their relationship another shot. "We are so together," Giannina told Love Is Blind presenters Vanessa and 'Obviously' Nick Lachey.

"Like, every single day, waking up next to each other and going to the gym together. I don't want to lose this, and I didn't."

Love Is Blind is available to stream on Netflix now.
