FINAL: Hawthorne Hornets lose to Madison County Cowboys in Class 1A championship
TALLAHASSEE — Hawthorne was in the lead for much of the Class 1A state championship game Saturday against perennial state power Madison County at Gene Cox Stadium.
But a bad snap from center led to a blocked punt that set up Madison County for a short scoring run in the fourth quarter in pulling out a 13-12 win and denying Hawthorne its first state title in football.
