Lincoln baseball edges La Salle, and the rest of Thursday's RI high school game action

BASEBALL

Division I

Lincoln 3, La Salle 2

Solid pitching helped Lincoln surprise La Salle in the D-I matchup and improved its record to 7-5 on the season. Lions' starting pitcher Joseph Conti threw 5 1/3 innings of no-hit ball while striking out 7 to pick up the win and Sean Clifford pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief, allowing 2 hits and striking out 3 to pick up the save. Caden Specht and Donavon Lopez provided Lincoln with just enough offense as they drove in 2 and 1 RBI, respectively. The Rams slipped to 9-2.

Portsmouth 8, Cranston East 1

Starting pitcher John Mass pitched 5 innings of no-hit baseball, allowing one unearned run and struck out 7, and he also helped his own cause at the plate with 3 hits and an RBI as the Patriots rolled to an 8-1 win over the Thunderbolts. Nicholas Spaner had 3 hits and 2 RBI and Emmett Greenwood and Tom Calhoun each had 2 RBI in the win.

Mt Hope 2, Pilgrim 1

The visiting Huskies' Parker Camelo was 3-3 with a double and an RBI and Matt Gale, 1-3, drove in the second Mt. Hope run, both coming in the third inning. Brad Denson went the distance on the mound, allowing 4 hits and striking out 6 for the victory. For the Patriots, Aidan Ferrreira threw 6 innings, struck out 9 and drove in the lone Pilgrim run.

North Kingstown 7, Central 0

Ben Napoli pitched 6 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing only 3 hits as North Kingstown blanked Central. Hank Martin, Brady Spitzer, Blake Beattie and Quincy Rome had two hit each for the Skippers. Anthony Cruz had 2 hits for the Knights.

SOFTBALL

Division I

La Salle 11, Scituate 3

The Rams' Diana Hall went 3-4, with a double, 2 RBI, and 3 SBs, Lily Roumelis was 3-4 with a double, RBI, and 3 runs scored and Claire Boulanger was 2-3 with a double, 2 RBI. Ari DeMarco went 4 innings and picked up the win. She was relieved by Hailey Vigneau, who struck out 7 over the final 3 frames.

Cumberland 7, East Providence 5

Trailing 2-1 late, Cumberland exploded for 6 runs in the top of the sixth inning, with the key blow being a Reilly Austin 3-run home run, and the Clippers held on for the win over East Providence. CC Lanzi went the distance for the Cumberland, striking out 10 along the way. Josely Sosa had two hits and Mackenzie Pimental and Mariel DeJesus each had two RBI for the Townies in the loss.

BOYS LACROSSE

Division II

Cumberland 7, Chariho 4

Clippers goalie Colby Enos stood tall with 16 saves. Offensively, Cumberland was led by sophomore Sean Taylor (4 goals and an assist) and Sam Asermely with two goals. Seth Perron netted the last. Chargers goals came from Owen Gillis (2), Marshall Maxwell and Nathan Ballard.

Division IV

Rogers 14, Scituate 6

Dylan Walker (7 goals) and Jack Mathews (5 goals and 1 assist) led the Vikings offense. Patrick Stahl had 6 saves in the Division IV win.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Division I

Prout 16, South Kingstown 10

Sylvia Mayo scored 6 goals and added an assist and three of her teammates — Sara Mayo, Ella Niedelman and Ella Martin — each scored hattricks in Prout's victory over South Kingstown. The Rebels were led by Zoe Lockwood who had 4 goals and an assist in the loss.

BOYS TENNIS

Division I

Barrington 7, Cumberland 0

Singles: Luke Sapolsky defeated Yassin Taghzout 6-1, 6-1; Charlie Martin defeated Josh Murray 6-0, 6-0; Jeremy Kuo defeated Nate Otrando 6-4, 6-0; Vineet Abbineni defeated Dylan Carduso 6-0, 6-0. Doubles: Gabe Anderson and Bryce Kupperman defeated Colin Railey and Troy Senn 6-1, 6-0; Garrett Meehan and Zach Spear defeated Ethan Dwyer and Shea Leary 6-1, 6-1; Henry Birbiglia and Chris Clyne defeated Avi Keshari and Jaden Parmentier 8-1.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division II

Cranston West 3, East Providence 0 (25-7, 25-20, 25-16)

Chris Harvey's 10 kills, 4 aces and 2 blocks paved the way for the Falcons' victory over East Providence. Cranston West improves to 10-1 on the year and sits alone atop of D-2.

Barrington 3, West Warwick 0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-16). JV - WW, 2-0.

Sangmin Park had 33 assists, 2 aces and 2 digs, Cam Kelley had 13 kills and 2 digs and Maddox Godwin had 12 kills, 2 aces, and eight digs to lead the way for the Eagles win.

Westerly 3, Central 1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-22)

After dropping the first set, Westerly's got strong outings from Jack Kenyon (8 kills, 7 blocks, 3 digs) and Tyler Brayman (5 kills, 8 digs, 3 assists and 2 blocks) and rallied back to win the next 3 and take the match.

Lincoln 3, Toll Gate 0 (25-8, 26-24, 25-13)

The play of Tyler Dickinson (10 kills, 6 blocks) and Austin Noel (6 kills, 23 assists, 6 digs) factored heavily in Lincoln's win over Toll Gate. For the Titans, Austin Scotti recorded 7 kills and 3 blocks and Jayden Glover had 6 assists, 2 kills and 2 blocks.

Division III

Pawtucket 3, Woonsocket 0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-20), JV - Pawtucket, 2-0

Pawtucket's Dembo Konte had 7 kills, 2 blocks and 1 dig, and Domenic Carpentieri had 20 assists, 4 blocks, 2 aces and 5 digs. Woonsocket's Devin Merrill had 10 kills 1 ace.
