Lenawee County Road Commission has list of primary road projects for spring and summer
ADRIAN —The Lenawee County Road Commission has put together a long list of primary road projects it will be working on this spring and summer.
For those who are concerned about trees coming down on Tipton Highway, all the tree-cutting along the highway is now complete. There are, however, still some stumps that will be ground down.
Road commission managing director Scott Merillat said the 11 miles of the road is going to be paved and sealcoated this year through federal funding.
The road commission cut the trees back 10 feet from the right of way so that cars that might run off the road would have a chance to get back on the pavement before making contact with trees. The road crews did the work during the winter months. It also gave them the chance to remove dead trees.
There was a fatality on Treat Highway in December from to a tree falling on a vehicle in a windstorm. This type of cutting helps to alleviate similar accidents, Merillat said.

"We’re all done with the work out there. There’s some trimming going on right now. All of the trees that are going to be removed have already been removed. The trees are staying but they’re cutting branches away from the road, like some of them that hang over the road," Merillat said.
Other primary road paving projects include:
Canandaigua Road from M-156 to Seneca Highway.
Lime Creek Highway from U.S. 127 to Gallup Road.
Lime Creek Highway from Gallup Road to half-mile east of Ingall Highway.
Raisin Center Highway from Ives Road to Tecumseh.
Townley Highway from Rome Road to Manitou Road.
Yankee Road from Berkey Highway to Silberhorn Highway.
There are also 20 sealcoat projects and two gravel projects on the list.
The road commission is in the process of giving villages, townships and cities estimates for their road projects to vote on at their next meetings, Merillat said.
