Kobe Bryant Thinks These 3 Women Could Play in the NBA 'Right Now'

From Men's Health

Former L.A. Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant believes that there are plenty of female pro basketball players who are capable of taking on their male counterparts in the National Basketball Association. In a recent interview with CNN, the five-time NBA champion named three talented women in particular whose stats and performance speak for themselves.

"I think there are a couple of players who could play in the NBA right now, honestly," he said. "There's a lot of players with a lot of skill that could do it... Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Elena Delle Donne. There's a lot of great players out there, so they could certainly keep up with them."

Taurasi, a nine-time WNBA All Star and three-time WNBA champion, became the all-time leading scorer in the Association back in 2017; a title she holds to this day. Her skills on the court earned her the nickname "White Mamba," inspired by Bryant's own moniker, "Black Mamba".

Donne, meanwhile, is the first WNBA player to enter the informal 50-40-90 club, which is reserved for athletes who shoot more than 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from a 3-point range, and 90 percent from the foul line.

Maya Moore is a WNBA MVP, but took the 2019 season off to focus on her family.

While he has retired from the NBA, Bryant currently coaches his 13-year-old daughter Gianna's basketball team. Apparently, Gianna has her heart set on attending Taurasi and Moore's alma mater, the University of Connecticut, rather than following in her father's footsteps at UCLA.
