What to know about UTEP, EPCC graduation ceremonies 2023

The University of Texas at El Paso spring graduating class of 2023 is about to make history.

The university will have its largest class of graduates for the spring semester. It will have more than 3,140 spring and summer graduation candidates, UTEP officials said. The figure surpassed a record of graduates last spring.

Therefore, the university will have four in-person commencement ceremonies at the Don Haskins Center on Saturday and Sunday. Each ceremony will recognize bachelor's, master's and doctoral graduates and candidates from each college, following the schedule below.

When are UTEP spring graduation 2023 ceremonies?

Saturday: 1 p.m.: College of Health Sciences and College of Nursing; 6 p.m.: Woody L. Hunt College of Business, College of Science and School of Pharmacy

Sunday: 1 p.m.: College of Liberal Arts; 6 p.m.: College of Education and College of Engineering

Where can I park during UTEP spring commencement?

Admission tickets are not required. Entrance into the arena is allowed one hour before each ceremony.

Free guest parking will be in the perimeter lots off Sun Bowl Drive and Glory Road, including GR1, GR2 and SB7, and paid parking is available in the Glory Road Parking Garage, GR6.

ADA guest parking is available in the ME1 lot located off Mesa Street. The Glory Road Parking Garage is accessible to individuals with disabilities and has an elevator. All family members and guests with mobility impairments must access the Haskins Center through the east (Mesa Street).

Will UTEP spring commencement have live streams?

All four commencements will live stream for those who cannot attend the ceremonies in person. Ceremonies will be available on the UTEP Commencement main home page, utep.edu/commencement.

The Don Haskins Center has a clear bag policy. Prohibited items: noisemakers, helium balloons, large signs/banners, outside food, drink, glass containers, professional cameras, vapor products, camera tripods, drones, airhorns, whistles, strollers, confetti, umbrellas, selfie sticks, laser pens, car seats and pets.

Special lighting to celebrate UTEP graduation 2023

The Mining Minds pickaxe sculpture at the Sun Bowl-University Roundabout will be illuminated in blue and orange during the evenings through May 14.

The "M" on the mountain across from Sun Bowl Stadium also will be lit evenings Saturday and Sunday.

Additionally, the WestStar Tower in Downtown El Paso will be lit in UTEP colors on the evenings of Friday through Sunday.

Details about EPCC 2023 spring graduation

The El Paso Community College will have two commencement ceremonies Friday at the Don Haskins Center ‒ 2,134 degrees and certificates of completion will be granted this spring.

The graduation for Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science and certificates of completion will be at 2 p.m. The Associate of Arts and Associate of Arts in Teaching graduations will be at 6 p.m.

Master of Ceremonies will be William Serrata, EPCC president. The commencement speaker will be Nicholas Tejeda, group president of Western Group for Tenet Healthcare and group chief executive officer at the Hospitals of Providence.
